Can anyone suggest some good replacement door speakers for a mk3 GolfGTiand some replacement dash mount tweeters? Preferably ones that will go straight in without too much messing about.

    Cheers

most companies do 6.5"components.i had alpines in my mk3 and they fitted a treat and sounded so much better than the crappy stock jobs

I thought the door speakers were 6", are they 6.5"'s? I'll take the grill off and have a look at the weekend when i get some time in the daylight. As for the tweeters i'm not sure what size they are. There wasnt any in the car when i got it. Again, i'll take the grill off and have a measure at the weekend.

Budget, i'm not sure really. I'm not after a mutz nutz system. I just want something thats gonna sound good. I've got a sub in the boot for the real low end. Just seems to lack punch and top end.

    they were spr-176a. 6.5 components.

they fitted exactly in the stock locations and the stock grilles fitted back over them.even the tweeters fitted staight in.

    Get HELIX Components!
Will kick the arse of any street branded halfords stuff!

150 and they are the b*****ks!

I've got infinity comps at the moment, but I'm removing them soon as the clarity of the Helix's are just too good!

    German too!

If you got money to spend (I aint read all of ur post..lol) go for Focal's!!
Best thing to come from France!
I don't think you can get better than focal!!
Close ya eyes and you;d thnk the person is singing in front of you!

The size of the speakers to go for are 6.5"..

    I'd also recommend amping them!
    Makes a huge difference..

Just depends how into your sounds you are

I've gone for the alpines as i'm not wanting to spend too much on this car as i'm not sure how long i'll keep it for (show me the Cupra). I may get a new amp soonish as the one i've got currently is a bit pap. Any suggestions?

get blaupunkt bass reflex door pods!!

they are awesome, complete door pod with ported enclosure for the mid- you wouldn't beleive the bass they bring to the front of the car :o

the standard tweeter in the dash is very good and personally i wouldn't bother changing it.

in my opinion i don't think you could get a better sound from anything else :clap::clap:

There weren't any tweeters in the car when i got it. New door pods sound expensive plus I don't know how long i'll have the car for so i wasn't looking to spend too much.

    Thanks anyway.

i'm near edinburgh. don't know where you are, but i'd suggest find any local blaupunkt dealer and ask them. they were only ever made for mk3 golfs :p

at one stage i was gonna do sound offs with blaupunkt, they were supporting me and i had an awesome big set up. their gear is very good. i was getting 144db from two 12s [8D]
