Hoping someone can me help a mate, hes just got a 2001 Yreg 1.8t with the AUM engine he bought it as a none runner however he said it ran for about 30 secs then hes had nothing since.
The car had been stood for nearly 3 years i plugged it in and it came up with a massive list of dtc's would someone be able to have a look at the scan results for me and maybe point me in the right direction personally i think its an ecu/immobiliser problem heres the results its very long winded sorry guys :-

those are for all the modules inside the car, it hasnt even managed to talk to the ecu and you can see several of the modules have flagged 'no comms' errors to the ecu. theres no telling how old those codes are as well, so now you have a list of what was there from the start go into each module and clear the codes logged and see what comes back after its been driven for a bit.

next step though is figure out why the ecu isnt talking to anything else, for starters check fuse 29 in the fusebox which is ignition live to ecu, as well as fuse 10 or 37 one of which supplies the permanent live to the ecu and the input to the ecu relay depending on exactly when in 01 it was built. next have a good look around the engine bay for any obvious wiring faults, pop the cover off the black relay box on the passenger side of scuttle and make sure 428 ecu/coil relay is fitted and the connections are all clean underneath.

the ecu earths to a stud in the middle of the scuttle, its a bit of a pain to get to though as wipers got to come off etc so save that for later

For a start the central convenience unit is not being powered.
Check to see if the interior light works. If not have a look at the fuses.
They do fail in Mk4 platform vehicles.
