MK4 1.8T Engine mapping

Hi,


Ive just bought a 2001 MK4 1.8Tgolf 150bhp model. Whilst looking through the receipts for the car I found one which says "engine management modification carried out."


This cost 470. Could anyone tell me what this work includes. Is it a chip? I need to know for insurance purposes as I dont want to get screwed if the unthinkable happens.

maybe Revo...superchips...amd... etc etc

where was the receipt for?

 

its possible an ecu reflash e.g. revo
depends where it was done and what it was called
some, if not all, are generally undetectable...so insurance 'shouldnt' be an issue
sounds to cheap for revo tho??

 

499 for revo so coiuld be a bit cheap but could have it done a while back maybe? who knows

Cheers for your responses, the receipt was from 2001 and was for a place in boston lincs called corten-miller. On the bottom of the receipt there is a superchips logo.


If it were a superchip how much difference would it make to the performance of the car?

current superchips will add 30bhp to a 20vt golf, so assume similar to 2001
