i have a mk golfgttdi 150. i want more power out of it but have been advised against it as i will start blowing seals can any1 help
just get a remap. Will take you to 200bhp/300lbs. Don't bother with exhaust or air filter mods - far too expensive with minimal gain. Above 200bhp/300lbs and you're looking at turbo and injector upgrade along with beefier clutch.
mk1 has 4 stud hubs, so id go for the mk1 rear beam and retro fit the suspension also. FTW a remap ought to make it much quicker though. you sure its running totally healthy to start with?
Yeah its running fine got a mate with diag computer had it all checked out. have got some heavy speakers in the boot 18" r32 rinms on it. who would you recommend for the remap as i am in the southwest.cheers for your help so far
when i had a few 130pds a few years back, upsolute were highly thought of. one i can say i really have heard bad things about is CHIPPED UK, christ ive heard some horror stories about them. a google search should tell all. tbh, id have a look on the ukmkiv board and see who they are currently claiming to be the best and take it from there. should be very quick after that.
most remaps will easily see 195bhp/290lbs on a PD150. 200bhp/300lbs is not unrealistic. Standard brakes can cope with the power upgrade. It's the suspension that I would say needs sorting first.
I'm perfectly aware that 'most' remaps (E.g. Revo,Superchips,Jabba) actually peak at 190hp or less, but that's not what you're implying. You've implied that most remaps will give well over that figure by default, and they won't (without further modification) In the commercial world, thats known as misrepresentation. Spoken like a truly clueless poster.
Never fear the truth my friend - it's the greatest thing you can fight for It's completely irrelevant which brakes I have. The point is that you cannot increase a cars power by 1/3 and expect the brakes to continue operating maximally. It just can't happen.
You remind me of a character from one of Koontz's books. Ozzie Boone, I think. You'll have to take my word that it's a good thing.
Done? Exactly what is it I've supposed to have done? The above premise doesn't require anyone to do anything. It's a very simple statement of logical fact, although perhaps too simple for you as its flown right over. Is it that there has to be hands on direct contact with said brakes to make a simply statement? You must be right though...amongst the thousands of cars (inc golfs) I've worked with, there couldn't possibly have ever been a single one needing brakes. It's probably time you did some forum member investigations if you want to minimise the continuing embarrassment to yourself too.
Sorry about that fella. Anyway, afaic, you're pretty safe to remap, as above, without affecting seal longevity.
