Anyone actually seen one on the road? I havn't Seems like a bit of a sales flop to me. The "how many left" website says that there were 206 registered in the UK in 2010 - its first full year of production. Compare that with the R32 where 1092 were registered in 2006.... I reckon its either to do with the loss of its USP (the V6 lump) or its ridiculously high price.
I see three everyday and a few others but I do think the S3 is more popular. Folk are probably waiting on them being built.
we've had one in the show room for months, in white - the black one sold straight away A very nice drive, safer more stable than the GTI
Hmm... maybe they are not to big down on the sarf coast hundreds of r32's around me though. Wouldn't mind a test drive in an R as they have been reviewed pretty well.
not seen many around here surrey / hants border think the price might have something to do with it the GTI is already alot of dosh but the R is even more
Really? I see 4/5 different ones on a regular basis in the Farnham area, although i see a lot more Porsche's and Astons over any given time period
I like the R, problem is when I eventually ran into one on the road with all the right conditions such as no traffic, no fuzz etc I gave it a serious wipping. I don't know how much more tunable the R is as oppossed to my GTi6? If I trade in on one I loose around e10K & have to pay in another e14K, in SA Rand terms the car is R440000.00 with the right extras, they offer me R280000.00 for my car. I've yet to add the cost of all the tuning hardware. The R in SA guise has been detuned to 188kW, they say it's climate related but the truth is that our fuel is ****.Highest RON available at the pumps is 95unleaded. Now how much better a car is the R, I have yet to figure it out.If I change my car I will go for the Scirroco, a far more entertaining drive in FWD format, the 4wd makes the Golf R feel a little clinical to me. Am I wrong? Maybe it's best to just stay with what I've got & go for big turbo etc..................the R has left me a little confused
I will trade in my GTi for the R next year but I'll be doing the usual modsbefore delivery as it's far less powerfull than my present GTi. I think that the R has the right drivetrain to go for monster turbo etc............................I reckon that with say 400+hp & AWD it should do a high 12sec 1/4mile on street rubber. I don't think it will be as entertaining as my FWD Gti but it should be quicker with all the bits. I'm going for the VW dark metalic blue, suits the car. I will fit my 19" BBS CHR's to it, they should look wicked.
But the gti then chip it to 275 job done money saved, has the r spec is pretty Much the same apart for exshaust exit,r badges and wheels ? :-)
Your right there pal , mmm wasn't thinking straight ! Lol Where does crispy work ? As just picked up my golf this weekend from vw Dane Chester ?
Id have one IF I hadnt of bought an R32 Turbo. Would be a kinda step backwards for me to be honest....and more money to put in to it which I dont want to do
http://www.topgear.com/uk/videos/stig-hillclimb-vw-golf-r Keep seeing these everywhere atm. Liking them alot
They look fantastic on the road. Seen a few in Birmingham/Solihull. To be honest though, ive seen more R8s around here, they seem more common.
I really want one of these. Does anyone own one on here ? There is a nice black one near my work, with black wheels. Looks the business. Has to be my next car
I have the edition 35. Same stuff really just less bhp (same with a map) oh and the "R" is 4wd I think. Love it, make it your next car
