Looks tall, fat, full of lard.

Strong dislike. VW have lost the plot on this one.

They should have used the chopped roof like in the concept pics

    Also
    Bespoke arches front and rear
Concave single piece cross spoke wheels
    350bhp
    Solid in limited numbers

They got the GTI to sell to the masses

(who has been staring at the run out e90 m3s lately :-))

It'll be lighter than the outgoing Golf R, it's just not as aggressive looking. VW were never going to release something mental, cars appealing to masses, but something a little more Brutish would have been nice.

Anyway, I was tempted to wait for this, also considered the S3, but I'm glad I chose the M135i instead.

Does it still weigh as much as a small planet? If you're the kind of person who buys a Golf R then you're the kind of person who wants something a bit brutal. Another luke warm hatchback.

Deako doesn't the M135i have the same pedal issues as the derv you had?

0-60 of 4.9! That's fapping quick. There's no desire to own one though which is its biggest problem, some cars you see and think 'I wish that was mine' and unfortunately VW haven't made a car like that for a long long time

The main trouble with this will be the cost...

Sure it`ll be capable, but with nothing to make it stand out aesthetically, the near 38k+ it'll undoubtedly cost (specced up) doesn't really make it a viable option, even for those that can afford it.

Mk6 Golf R residuals will come down a bit mind...

I actually think the GTI front looks better than the R and styling looks to be on the 'safe' side of things.

    Errr...looks nothing like it.

From the rear its similar, but the front bumper, front lights and side profile are completely different...

No, I have gone for the brilliant ZF 8 speed auto option.
