My MK3 Dash Conversion Thread (pics)

    Looks Good Andy, bu lose the standard steering wheel (ruins the impact of the dash swap imo!) ;)

    Held in place with 'race-spec' parcel tape as well I see.

    Looks more like High Spec Duck(quack quack) tape to me, looking good Andy, but time for a new steering wheel I think!

    Steering wheels are expensive for what they are, lookin at near 200 for the one i want

    Undecided as yet......

    Will jus be using MK2 switch gear, prob mount them jus at the front of the centre consol opening, or on the sides (but that may be a bit awkward to actually use them :)


    Might still mod the MK3 rear window switch to operate them though - but i dont really like the switch :)

    Steering column has now been modified and lowered [8D]


    Jus gotta fit a couple nutserts to the transmission tunnel and the corssmember will be fully installed and the wiring can begin :)

    well i say fair play to you nady, probably the only person on the forum who has got his ass out there in the cold weather (and id imagine its a bit ccolder up there than everwhere else ;)) and done some work on his project. i havent even stepped foot outside my house for the last 3 days, (only once to get essential supplies of lucosade) :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:

    Its not that cold actually, was 10deg the other day, and in the shed witht he space heater goin for a few hours it almost pleasant :lol:

    bollox! i've just rebuilt head and changed head gasket out in the street in the rain/sleet/snow! and tomoro morning i wil be out doing starter motor...

    at least andy has a barn :lol:

    looking good andy

    your using mk2 switches? no need, god knows where they are from but i have some after market mk3 dash switches on my mk3 dash ill get some pics tommorow if i can

    they fit in the dash next to the rear screen button

    also andy have you cut off the bottom of the dash to fit over the speaker pods?

    that is a very good idea i dunno why i didnt think of that ill get some pics of mine up soon if i can as i still havent bothered taking any yet.
