Hi all, does anyone know how VDO oil temp gauges are wired up? I have one in mine that has never worked but I took the 2 other covers off(I only have 1gauge) & it seems to be wired to something as the wires run into the front of car, but I don't know where they go to? Will I need to be looking under the bonnet somewhere & also would these have a fuse somewhere, I'm hoping it's just a fuse replacement :)

it should be wiried to the sender on the oil filter housing, however the correct sender must be used.

hi, I've just checked my haynes manual & found the sender you mention. Is it a cap of some sort(I can't really tell by the pictures & it's too dark to look now) & should the wires fit into this sender? How many wires should there be & what is the order they should be put in? Do they have a fuse? & also how many senders are there that would get it working

Hi mat, Ive just read your thread, does this mean if I want the VDO gauge working, my dash gauge won't work unless I get the t piece? Can these be bought everywhere or would I need to ring a specialist?

You have not said what engine this is going on?
Do you have any oil temp light/buzzer on the clocks? MFA?
If not then you dont need the T-Piece, just put the CORRECT sender for you gauge in and wire it up.
If you did have one on the clocks you can get rid of it and swap the sender for the VDO one. But if you want both you would need the T-Piece.

You cannot connect the VDO gauge & the MFA to the same sender as it doesnt work.
