Is that a portrait lens? Just the size of it I am questioning!

I pick up my 105mm tomorrow morning, I too am excited. It's ended up costing me 90 in the end, I got a flooring job to do at the camera shop so they gave me huuuuuge discount. I am off work tomorrow and so too is my wife. Perfect weather also for Friday so a trip out to the Derbyshire dales is in order.

It can be and is renowned for being used for portraits.

The clarity of the glass is amazing! I am dead chuffed with this.

The 105mm is a good lens. Is it Canon or Nikon?

    It's a Nikon.

I've just decided to sell my Sigma 170-500mm lens. I'm going to list it on the for sale section of CGTI. I cant get on with it for some reason so it needs to go. It's a beautiful lens too, I'll regret this some day lol

I've never really had the desire for really big lens. 200/300 mm I've coped with really well for along time now. I am on the look out for an extender though as I want some moon shots!

It wasn't so much the desire when I bought it, I was offered it at a good price and thought, what the hell. I didn't know a great deal about lenses at the time.

My next purchase will be a 200 to 300mm which will complete my kit..... For now!

Cool looking lens, Ant. But hope you've got some strong arm muscles to carry it around with you (or a hefty tripod).

Can we now expect some amazing photos from you, featuring the new lens?

Stella... those 70-200 F4 are relatively light actually.

TBH mate.. i wouldnt bother with the extender. Every time ive photographed the moon i've taken some shots with and without a canon 2x extender, and its always the ones without that are the sharpest, even once scaled to the same size. (there you go... just saved you 200-300 quid)

In fact i sold my 2x as I deemed it useless!
