Does this and the other VAG derivatives really need more power ? http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-eurocars/refreshed-seat-leon-cupra-300-announced/35398 ... why not concentrate on quality and weight saving
^^More about selling production vehicles in a very competitive hot hatch market, where other brands are doing exactly the same thing. In the case of the Leon, it is pretty easy to calibrate the engine to a higher output, already standard in the S3 or Golf R and sell it for a premium. I read they also have an AWD version, no doubt much cheaper than the sibling offerings from Audi or VW.
The 280 demo. that I drove earlier this year was quick enough, compared well with the Golf R ... much lighter in it`s feel and just as stable. Was priced around 28k I think, is now at 22k with ~ 1500 miles. A real trade off in quality between the two ... Brembo`s and much better seats in the Leon vs. AWD and upgraded interior in the R. Both cars were quite manic in their delivery at pace, a little tiresome but then that may be an age thing I believe that only the Leon Tourer will get the AWD.
