hi i am looking at replacing all the original speakers with aftermarket ones. I dont want to spend a fortune just want to have a better and louder sound.

Also when fitting the door speakers do i need to take the whole door card off as i have heard so many horror stories about not getting them back on properly and having leaky door skins.

    cheers

oh ok, i cant believe how little i actually know about these golfs![:$]

At least i am learning something new everyday, so i can take off the cards to swap the speakers and leave the membranes intact? (if they are sound of course) every car i have removed door cards from before i have struggled to not break the clips, is there a way to avoid breaking them or should i just get new ones and replace them? Is this possible or are they attached to the card meaning they will be broken?

    cheers

no clips to break...theyre screwed on

plus you dont have to take the card off if you dont want to..if you have the grilles already

yes should be a small crew underneath

id check the membranes anyway so the new ones dont get wet , buts up to you

are you thinking of components ...so mid in door and tweeter in dash?

no components are the way to go

then if you want more run them from a amp and consider a sub

yeah the sides are 4x6...i wouldnt bother unless you carry passengers alot

quality at the front is best...

not sure whats good at the moment , stick with a known brand name and watch out for ebay fakes

ive just gone for some 6.5" in modded pockets

you will never guess what, i have just looked and realised that my golf doesnt even have speakers in the doors![:$] i am suprised that i would only have dash and rear speakers. also somewhere down the line some speakers have been added to the parcel shelf.

how do you get the dash speaker covers off?
