    Thanks RJ.

So where do I start? What do I check first?

Also, What do you mean the flasher is on the washer stalk?

    Cheers

take the stalks off and you'll see what I mean :)

what you could do is locate the plug for the flasher switch and pop it off, bridge the red/yel wire pin 30 to the yel wire pin 56b. if main beams come on you know wiring and fuses all fine, its the stalk. if not then its white wire from stalk to fusebox

PS. high & main beam means the same thing! its dipped beam you are having trouble with ;)

Keeping an eye on this as occasionally my heater fan comes on if I pull the flasher stalk haha.

    Well....

Got my new switch today....It had too many pins.

Put it in anyway and got dipped beam.
But then it all started smoking....opps [:^(]

So i need a switch with fewer pins

argh no! if pins dont match wiring looms catch fire.

I did tell you it wasnt the light switch! liek i say both the dip and main beams get power from the same wire from the light switch to the main beam switch, the flasher stalk just switches between them

Does a 9 pin even exist?

Or are they rare because I cannot get hold of one......

pre-89 i think were 9 pin, or maybe 8 pin not sure. if you get an 11 pin socket you can switch your old pins into it to allow you to fit a more common 11pin switch

I took the light switch out from thr dash, put a volt meter over pin 30 to 58b and there is resistance. So that means the switch isnt the problem?

will need to take a look at the stalks at the weekend.

its the flasher switch you need to unplug, then put a bit of wire from pin 30 to pin 58b. if the main beams come on, you know the wiring and fuses are ok. if not then check the wiring and fuses

Just put a wire between pin 30 and 56B and the lights work.

So the stalk unit is the problem....thanks RJ.

    Hello again.
    I still have this problem.

I have put a meter across the light switch (on the dash) and i get a resistance, so that is fine?
I have gapped pin 30 and 56b and the lights work.

I have changed the MFA stalk and the lights still dont work.
    What do i do now?

    Thanks

No i bridged the pins from the connector attached flasher on the MFA stalk.

I put a volt meter across the pins on the dash switch, got a resistance so assumed it was ok.

ok! next run a wire from pin 30 to 56 on the headlight switch see if that works? if it does that would be very odd since the dipped beams work [:s]

I only get side lights. No dipped or high beam.

I will try bridging at the switch end
