Cheers. Shame it gets caked in rubbish and fades a bit left up there so now looks a bit unloved. Its getting some tlc now!

Sorry for lack of updates. The car has remained largely the same for the most part. It has been to Brands Hatch, Lydden again and done two RAF Marham track days. All pretty successful on the whole

The last Marham track day saw the slicks wear to the canvas, bit unexpected halfway through the day as the wear dimples looked ok. The rears were ok so we tried a slick front rear road tyre combo. As you can guess it ended with a spin! Unfortunately the cones did enough damage to tracking and exhaust to signal the end of the day a little early!

Little update of the recent work to rectify the probs:

Refitted the exhaust. The long rear tail pipe was bent by the cones so now hangs down a little. Looks a bit tacky but works fine so we can live with the tacky look!

New top mounts...again! Mk3 ones now so hopefully will last a bit longer! Anyone upgrading to Mk3 mounts just a note you don't need new top caps like we bought. Mk2 ones still fit.

The n/s headlight had cracked so we decided to loose it. With no headlights we attacked the wiring. Got rid of pretty much the whole lighting loom. It has tidied up the engine bay nicely and combined with the headlight saved a surprising 3.2KG.

Split inner CV boot changed and also an over due oil change.
New tie rod and did the tracking using Nige's method. Cheers Nige, it woks a treat.
    Fitted new Colway cut slicks

Finally the car still needs a clean and bit of polish but we freshened the look with some Hi Viz orange vinyl positioned on the worst of the stone chipped areas. Couple new stickers also just to change the look a bit!

(the car is now red after a polish, shame the pics still show it pink!)

Next up Lydden 3rd of July:thumbup: Just need to fit other rims on the rear.

Another cheap and worthwhile mod will be to modify your headlight cold air duct with a bigger hole and to box the cone filter so the only air feed is from the headlight...

Some kind of refraisal blanket between the inlet and exhaust manifolds also helps keep inlet air temps down...

We are now looking to sell the Jetta :-( Rich is going to Australia and with fuel prices I cant afford it on my own. No rush to sell just yet so its up on pistonheads with the trailer. See how it goes.

Well missed out on the 13th at snetterton so we are booked up for the 4th december at snetterton. Since we bought it we have gave it a service and polish. Looks well now but no pictures just yet sorry guys but she does look kind of different. Got to say though it's a great car and we are getting quite attached to it. :)
