The insurance company that i use have now changed there policy to exclude the nurburgring, it used to say i'm covered for "any road that the road traffic act applies".

Now, i have been going to the ring for years and theres always been this grey area of "UK insurance have to cover you 3rd party because its european law" but now they all seem to specifically exclude it, they'll pay out for 3rd party costs but could claim it back from you, and this link kind of states that: http://www.leeds-solicitors.com/nurburgring_insurance.html

Out of interest i got a quote from https://secure.moris.co.uk/Track_Day_Insurance
which was 73 for 1 day.
futher reading of the policy states that 3rd parties are not covered (so pretty pointless as i'm not worried about the cost of my own car, in the event of an accident i don't want to pay out for injury claims, their car repairs etc..).

There is a company that will cover you http://www.keithmichaels.co.uk/ but from a previous quote they were not very competitive, i will try again though.

So what who have you been using?
Has anyone claimed and been paid out recently? (a friend of mine claimed and got paid out but that was 4 - 5 years ago, it was non fault by him and the other driver was also english so i don't know his side of the story insurance wise but policy wording seems to have tighten up since then)
Has anyone claimed and not been paid out?

    Any information would be welcomed.
    Thanks.

You've covered most of the information I have. Some of the main steam insurance companies seem to put in the policy wording European roads apart from various namings of the toll ring road between 2 villages that has been used for motorsport & closed testing over the years next to the GP track

Wonder if its the same for sections on the La Man's roads?

Do you mean Le Mans? As in 24 Heures du Mans near Le Mans, Maine, France. Circuit de la Sarthe.

Basically, it's best to assume you are uninsured unless you are on a trackday and get adequate track day insurance.
