Oil leak on kr engine

I have been running my rebuilt kr engine for 2 weeks now and all was fine until yesterday - i have noticed a very small oil leak - one drip overnignt -
it is very hard to locate where it is coming from - it appears at the very bottom of the block below the offside drive shaft / gearbox mounting bolt location on a machined smooth corner of the block

i may recall that the only seal i did not change on rebuilding the engine was
the crankshaft oil seal (i reused the existing one that was oil tight) and i believe these are no longer available from vw?

The replacement sump gasket was what i would describe as cardboard type
which i sealed with blue (cant remember the name) gasket sealer.

How is it to remove the gear box to inspect this seal as i look at it the end of the gearbox is very close to the chassis leg? Would there be enough room for removal?

Should i replace the sump gasket first ? Before removing the gearbox ?

    Thanks ger16v
