Hi everyone I’m new to the forum and Iv had a look around a search through old topics and can’t find what I’m looking for so I said I would go ahead and post . I currently own a 2014 Golf Driving along anyway and my car went into limp mode with a epc light on dashboard and saying “Maxium engine revs 4000rpm” Got the car home plugged in with vagcom and 2 of the following codes came up 17002 - Oil pressure Switch 3 P168D 00 [109] - Malfunctuon Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 2 Fault Frequency: 5 Mileage: 180069 km Date: 2022.04.11 following codes P168D00 - Oil pressure switch 3 - malfunction status - Active/static Couple of steps Iv done myself Oil pressure test on engine (all checked out good) Lamba sensor changed Oil sensor 1 & 2 changed (brown +blue cap) Oil control valve changed Oil filter changed Oil drained and inspected Fresh oil Oil pump removed and inspected (gauze cleaned) When engine heats up to 55 upwards it comes up “max revs 4000rpm with EPC light ) All main dealer parts used Wondering has anyone came across similar issues and if so what was the fix
Not sure if relevant as it's not obvious to me what engine you have, but see pages 24-28 here referencing F447 SSP 522, Le moteur TSI 2,0 l de 162/169 kW (carworklog.com)
So it’s a 14 GTI 2.0 230bhp , had a quick read as traveling to work , each sensor has been replaced , and control valve too , I had the car tuned and wondering could it possibly be oil pump failing to meet the Preformance for the tune or would that matter
Looking at wiring diagrams, it might only be fitted to engines in cars later than yours. Do you know what your engine code (Motorkode) is? Wait, no, CHHA and CHHB from April 2013> have it.
hopefully I have been viewing the diagrams correct but let me just say what I think I am seeing on page 22 . so I have changed 1 -Oil pressure switch to control the F378 reduced pressure 2 - F22 Oil pressure switch 3 - N522 control valve for piston cooling nozzles would I be correct in saying that the Oil pressure switch, level 3 F447 is located under the intake manifold and would you think that would be my next step in replacing or would you go for Oil pressure regulating valve N428 . I have had the car at a Fairly well known Garage that only deals with these type of cars but feel like he is not putting in the time or effort so I will be going to collect the car tomorrow and go through it with my own mechanic like I did in beginning.
As the fault code specifically refers to oil pressure switch 3, I'd be investigating that above anything else. I don't know any more about it than what's in that SSP. This ETKA page suggests three different part numbers for oil pressure switches for CHHA/CHHB if that's what you have: oil level sensor; oil pressure switch; coolant tem... - Golf/Variant/4Motion(GOLF) [EUROPA 2015 year] (7zap.com) (Last three item 7's). You may be able to work out which is no. 3 by eliminating part numbers of ones you've already changed
So update on the car , got access to sensor 3 f447 and replaced and car is back running 100% percent ,not the nicest job to get to but it’s back and running @EZ_Pete thanks very much for the couple of diagrams and the help as I was lost before you took a look at the topic part number for anyone in the future 06L919081 cost me €14 from the main dealer .
