I've got a VDO oil temperature gauge sitting around which would be nice to have working, but I don't think there's anywhere on the EZ engine to mount a sender. Is it possible to swap the oil filter housing for one from a GTI which has 2 positions for senders, or is a T piece my only option? The T piece seems like it won't get much flow so the temperature reading probably won't be very accurate....

    Cheers!

There is a mark on the old housing if you want to drill and tap, otherwise i have seen on 1.8 driver engine i bought, had 2 sensors on, also gti one fits. The block is the same.

Yeah I was more talking about the drilling & tapping option. The T piece is cool but I fancied a nice clean OEM look ;)

if you’re swapping the housing, make sure you pick a new gasket up for between the housing and the block, they like to leak.

I have no gasket now, only some silicone, no problems.
I did buy one but was wrong mk3 metal type, so had to "improvise".[:D]
Even with a new gasket there are chances to leak some, at least thats my experience with fiber gaskets.
