    Hi all,

I'm in the middle of building my MK2 20VT (build thread coming soon!). I'm after a solution to the plastic scuttle panel... Is there a complete one piece option? I saw a red MK2 at inters at the weekend with what looked an OEM one piece that was the width of the car stopping both ends at the bonnet hinges.

What's people using for a tidy option? If you use a late hard plastic version what size is the gap either end? Can you use the ECU cover as well to make it one piece?

Any info or pics will be appreciated :)

    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Andy

The new harder version stops about 200mm from the hinge to allow for the ECU cover.
Are you putting the MK4 ECU (Assuming standard management) in the correct place? The ECU cover fits over it but not very well but it looks ok.
I will see if i can get a picture at the weekend:thumbup:

I think the one you saw was a LHD one cut and shut against a RHD one.

Ah ok. Could've been. Any ideas where to get a LHD version from? VW UK do them?

Ah ok thanks. I'm running an emerald setup (ECU will be located inside the car). So the ECU cover doesn't clip to the other longer piece?

    Thanks
    Andy.

Nope. The ECU cover hangs between the windscreen lip and the shuttle ledge where the long rubber seal goes. It doesnt clip to the big piece at all but they are kind of molded together so the water falls off the big one onto the small one.

Thanks. If anyone has a picture, that would be great...

Got a part number for the LHD one - 191 819 415 C But VW Swindon can't get them - obsolete

    RHD ones are 192 819 415 C & those are obsolete too, as is the ECU cover is 192 905 399 A.

Decisions! 2nd ones I guess... There aren't any aftermarket ones available?

You can find lhd ones for sale second hand and cut and shut plastic weld them together, the one you mentioned you had seen is in the car with the valver on carbs and the mini dash. You should find one fairly easy, im suprised someone hasnt done a mould of a cut n shut, good aftermarket item.
