Currently at work, so hoping when I get home at 8, you lovely people will have a solution for me.
my brotherS phoned me and said his computer got a pop up window saying hdd is corrupt, windows has ran recovery by itself, I didn't think that was possible as recovery is on disc, and desktop has gone, whenver he tried opening a folder, foles have been deleted.
sounds to me like a virus, and my brother being a spaz has probably aided in it's mischief.
anyone know if it's a virus and how to destroy it?
best way to recover files if they're not just hidden, as there's some important files on there.
    thank uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

go on google and get avira on the PC

then get a mem stick and retreive as much data as you can.

then run disc check to see whats going on.

if the hdd is dead, replace it, if not, format and reinstall windows and try again

the problem may be that the virus will not let you run or install any antivirus hence me recommending vipre. if it will the avira ftw

okay so any recommendations on software to retrieve data which has been deleted, I think it's been hit with a double whammy, windows recovery virus and a genuine hard drive failure of some sort.
you get a very convincing pop up window saying: windows can't find hard disk space, hard drive error" on startup
