I'm looking into getting a Passat estate and have found one locally up for 1900.

Mileage is about 111,000 miles with a recent(ish) cambelt change.
    MOT - jan 2008
    FSH (with loads of receipts)
    3 owners

What sort of things should I be looking out for when (if) i go and view it?
What sort of things go wrong on these?

    Just from my bro's experience:

    1) Waterpump is a must with cambelt change (see below)
    2) Bro's oil pump has failed too at 120k on his mk4 gti
    3) Waterpump shaft shattered on his A4 1.8t at 50k, case began shredding the cambelt!!!!
    4) MAF failure on bro's mk4
    5) Bosch black plastic dump valve also broke

Thats about it from the 1.8 T's he's owned. Otherwise very reliable everyday hack which he sold last year with just over 130k which took a lot everyday driving,

Check the front and rear carpets for water, the B5 passats (up to X reg?) leak water in through the window seals and its a ****er of a job to fix and clean up
