    Hi,

I have an 84 GTI cab and crunches really badly going from 2nd to 3rd - i ve been given a 1990 1.8 Passat GT and want to know if the box will fit and how much work? as it's in pucker condition- i know the Cab is obviously rod change and the Passat cable change does it fit? anyone done this before????

  3. The box will physically fit on the engine okay, but its a cable gear change type.

To get it to work you would need to install the cable change mechanism that runs all the way to the gearstick.

You would then need to fit the hydraulic clutch system from the passat or a corrado as it doesn't use a cable.

Alternatively you can use the seat ibiza cable conversion bits for the clutch.

Better still, you could sell the passat box to pay for a normal 020 rod linkage box for your car.
