Passat GL5

    Know this is a little off the golf line, but my neighbour is getting rid of his 86 GL5 estate (2Ltr 5 Cylinder). Have been for a ride in it and it's great, really smooth. Does anyone have any information on them?

    Yeah, they drink 4 star like its going out of fashion, hadan Audi 80 with the same engine and the fuel bills nearly killed me

    My Mum had an estate version.
    Suprisingly pokey.

    So, would it be faster in my Mk1 than the current 1800 8v GTI lump, or am I just being silly (has been known :lol: )

    sits the wrong way sadly, its like an Audi with the gearbox behind and the engine in north/south

    sorry I should have explained, they are the bunch of loonies who fitted all the 5 cylinder 20v turbo kit and Quattro running gear into a mk1.... there are videos of it around
