If you can not decide yourselves what the deal should be ... you should not be openly canvassing the forum`s opinion.

Are you attempting to put pressure on the seller ?

If you do not think that it is worth the asking price ... walk away, quietly !

6000 is a little steep tbh.

As it looks like a nice clean early example, I'd say around 1200, depending on the rust issues ?

Did early GTI models all come with a single exit exhaust then ? My old B-reg didn't.

 

The price is a joke. I had expressed an interest but not at that sort of price. Rusty tailgate/rear panel/wings/arches, obvious paintwork done in the past ,missing decals/side stripes on the outside, welding needed soon, no heater plus more. Seller is living in dreamland

 

I think notenoughtime was just trying to show those of us that were curious or interested because the seller was unable to post pics and could only email them. Saves anyone else having to ask.

Shes definitely asking for too much then.

With those issues above, I'd say it would be lucky to make under a 1000.

 

Forgot to say MFA also broken and rear trim hanging down. That's just what I can see from the pictures and from the advertisement description! I don't like running down someone's advert but sometimes a reality check is needed. Yes its a 1 owner car and an early Mk2 but it needs significant work to be anywhere near a 6k car. To be honest, I'm not sure it ever will be with 167k miles on it. Worth buying and making nice again but at least 5k too expensive.

 

Take a 0 off from the 6k for a quick sale or a starting bid would be more realistic.

 

Seller did say she might end up keeping it. I suppose that's an option if Stevie Wonder isn't in the market for a mk2 after all.

i think we might of established that nobody will pay 6k for the car, how about you now just leave the seller to do what they want from here on, this thread is clearly going nowhere
