Hello! II would ask for some help on the diagnosis of my 2014 Golf 7 2.0 GTI. Symptoms include the car is hesitant to start when the engine is hot. It will start perfectly fine on a cold start, but if I turn it off after it’s warm then try to turn it back on, the starter will keep trying but the engine won’t start. This will throw a p2188 code(system too rich at idle). I’ll eventually have to give it some throttle for it to fully crank over.
If anyone has any insight on this I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks

What diagnostic system are you scanning it with?

It's a possibility. What values is it showing on the diagnostic?

I presume you have a clean air filter?

Might be worth looking at the values from the airflow meter, if there's one in it.

I'm not very familiar with those engines.

I didn't check, but I searched the internet and some people said it could be this ... I'll look tomorrow and I'll take a picture with what values I have

I have a clean air filter, but I don't think that's because it only causes problems when the engine warms up ...

Is this a belt deiven engine or a timing chain ? If chain then it might be either stretched or chain guides worn trough. I suggest you take some compression readings and check the crank/speed sensor on a scope to see what signals you might get. I believe you either have chain stretch or low compression issues, I suggest you take it to a competent Mecanic/vag specialist and let him run diagnostics !

The important thing is there are no major differences between the cylinders…

Are the cam and crank sensors in sync with one another?

Did you find any foreign bits in the oil at recent services ? Plastic bits I mean, it would explain chain stretch however I would take it to an experienced mechanic for a few checks. Does the engine rattle on first start in the morning ?
