Polo Gearbox????

Just bought for absolute peanuts a N plate 1.0L Polo with a knackered gearbox.

Can anyone let me know what gearbox's will fit this car as I am going to have to source one from a somewhere.

any of the small block engines, most polo and lupos

 

Would a box from an earlier polo fit?????

 

late ones are cable shifters arent they? I knwo the early ones are rod
shifters (but a lot sompler than the 020 ones!) and they were fitted
up to the mk3 polo but I dunno if they swapped to the cable ones
with all 6N polos...?
Pretty common in the yards so not a problem finding either type

my 99 t 1.6 dont....

 

i'll check again tomorrow...usually rod change 'boxes are much better feeling than cable change. and every polo i've driven has a poor change (hence why i thought they were cable)

 

I'm sure my b/f has sourced a 1.4 one which apparntly will fit so we'll see

 

should do although the ratios will be longer
