Evening all, hoping someone might have a suggestion that'll get my Polo running...

'85 saloon, 1.05 with the Solex 31 PIC 7 carb

Changed fuel tank last weekend, all fine except a little dirt from the filler neck area dropped into the tank. Car started and ran fine until halfway home (about 8 miles) when it started shuddering and cutting out. Towed it home and assumed it was something clogging the fuel lines.

Tried starting it a couple of days later, started fine and idled ok. Took it out, a mile up the road the cutting out started again and it wouldn't restart. Pushed it home.

Same again next day, started fine, etc etc.

Fuel filter is clean, when first started and run fuel is coming through fine and can bee seen spraying from the carb jet. It's only when you put some load on it for a mile or so that the problem starts. All vacuum hoses fine, nothing else was touched apart from the tank.

Is it going to be a blockage at the tank end, or is there something I'm missing?

    Cheers!
