I think the that the lack of weight our Mk1's have will surely make up for the lack of valves don't ya think Riley ??? Edited by: ViCk
yeah! lets kick some mk2 a$$. please note i dont intend to start a mk1 vs mk2 argument,i know theres no comparison
sorry to be such a slow feck but I was under the impression that a kr head couldn't be used on an abf block edit: meant 9a head... Edited by: breeze
i can assure you all that a 9A head does fit on an ABF block. or at least my 9A head seems to fit pretty well on my ABF block....
oakey dokey, looks like you've moved up to the premiership with this one dex,see you at inters mate if ya not working or have you booked leave ?
I've seen that engine on EGay, it's had the crank welded and the blocks full of hairline cracks....... Ok, it's quite good I suppose..................b@stard
now i know who bought that block for 300 quid from PVW classifieds!!! I was gunna buy that, in fact i said id be down for it then i rang him and he said he sold it [:^(] What a deal tho, great block, ull have some fun with that. Isnt the crank reground diesel one? A 1.8 bored? Its not a 9A is it mate?
well here's the spec of the engine 9A head, Blydenstein Stage 1 Twin Exhaust cams ABF block, 82.5mm pistons (machined for correct compression) 95.5mm Diesel Crank All lightened and Balanced Designadubs lightened Flywheel at the time of writing this post the car has done just over 850 miles since the engine was fitted. and with my (basically) std cams in i am still waiting for someone to explain to me why everyone thinks 16v engines with diesel cranks don't rev...... The difference in the midrange is immense - no longer care what the rolling road graph says - this car accelerates faster 4 up in the midrange (3k-5k) than mt 173bhp 1.8 did with just me in it. just wait til vince has had a chacne to fine tune it - Designadubs stuck the wide-band lamda on it and the fuelling looks to be pretty near spot on - might need a slight tweak and then a play with the timing
ive driven dex's car (only to 2/3 throttle and 5krpm) at it pulls really hard, a well worth conversion, if u can figure out how to do it, there are so many things that u dont think about when its on the drawing board that go wrong a sunday evening when your putting it together
800G's - don't worry next time you drive it you can use the full gas and all the revs and it keeps pulling all the way - all this rubbish about diesel cranks give cars that don't rev is way off the mark Yes, it doesn't rev in the same way as my 1.8 with 260's in did - but it pulls much much harder...
sounds good were you ever using schrick cams on your motor? Wondering what happened to those (if it was you that had them) and what made you go with the dual exhaust cams.
