Jeff - I know what you mean. Park it next to a standard one and there's less differences than you think.
B'Locks -Are you perhaps wearing out an already very thin joke? Yawn.

The bumpers can actually be bought as 'R Line' accessories and fit any Golf - they even do an exhaust-cutout-less rear bumper so diesels can have it. I fear we will see a lot of sad imitations in the enxt few years...'M3 replica' stylee. The arches are the same

The other factor to consider perhaps is the 0-62 figure is only achievable by using 3rd gear same as my Mk2 GTI!

However since having new VW software uploaded and the AmD270 conversion I have seen the 0-60 drop to low 5 seconds! (using laptop software) perhaps with a more accomplished (lighter ;) ) driver this could be high 4s?

Whatever the figures are (which are good) , they are damn quick.
Anyone arguing with that is just daft.
Some woman in the US got 13.8second 1/4 in her standard R32 (with video proof). That is quick [:D]

I was surprised to discover my Audi A4 TDI only weighs 1240kg! Must be all that 4 wheel drive and v6 cobblers!

    Cheers,

    Drew.

That sounds suspiciously light - About the same as a CTR.
Are you sure? Off to do some fact finding...

That's what it says in the manual and in VW Driver's stats too. I can only assume they're reasonable figures.

    Cheers,

    Drew.

Got between 1385 and 1400ish depending on where I look.
Made sure it's the 1.9 not the 2.5 which weighs a lot more.
I'm sure you'll prove me wrong though!
    Equivalent BMWs are about 1400kgs.

    Here's one site:

Gets very good reviews on all sites!

    EVO 8?!
Different type of car altogether. Service it every 5k, do 150 miles on a tank, looks pants, 20mpg max, terrible interior, look like a well off Chav, etc etc.
Lovely to drive but not my cup of tea, nor many others.
    Case not rested. ;)
This has been done to death before. [8(]
