I'm tired of opening my car by key now so I want to get a cheap remote locking kit until I can afford to pay for a TOAD alarm system.

The remotes appear to have flip keys embedded... what's the crack with them?

Also does "boot popping" mean you can have a button to pop the boot because I'm thinking of smoothing the tailgate and removing the lock...

If you have central locking there is a vag upgrade kit that consists of a loom you just plug into the pump - don't bother with eBay schitt!

That one looks alright. Stickers look a bit pants though. [:p]

I wonder if I can transfer the immobiliser chip to the new housing?

Yeah you can, I've got one for my fabia but haven't fitted it. I've transferred the transponder and had a blade made to check the key would work ok and it does. Just make sure the transponder doesn't smash when you try to get it out. The badges aren't too bad.

It's in the accessory catalogue if you still have one kicking about...

    VAGPARTs sell it -

Accessory catalogues are a thing of the past! All online now! Going to have a look for that later, always told customers the locking can't be made remote in the past!

Yeah - wondering if it wasn't available over here for some reason... I did ask on here about the part number a while ago as I know VAG Parts add quite a premium to the VAG prices, I reckon you could probably get it for about 60 if you can find it...

OK, so I received the ebay one... instructions have been translated from a different language and are impossible to make any sense of. [:x]

It needs to be wired into the central locking bump in the boot, which is easy enough. Means I can sit in the boot and fit it when it's raining tonight. Just me, my soldering iron, my fleabay central locking kit and a few cans. [:D]

But... I have to wire it into the indicator wires so they will flash when I lock/unlock. Do I wire it into the wires running to the rear indicators?
