recommend me a flash for macro... canon 1000d

as above ive just bought my first macro lense
(ebay number 330814439621 )

and id like a flash to use with it

im a real noob with all this so looking for suggestions

only really wanting to spend 100 ..maybe 150 at a push
i dont mind buying a 2nd hand one if it means i get a better quality one either

any ideas folks?

Hmmm.... You want to be looking at the canon 430EX... as the least!

You will also need a flash sync cable too, as you will need to be using the flash off the camera!

 

For macro use you might be better off looking for a decent second hand flash ring, provides a more even lighting for close up shots. Unfortunately i dont know canon too well, more of a nikon man myself!

i've been looking at the macro rings actually.. circa 220 for a sigma or 250-300 for a used canon

might be one for the christmas list then

 

just to update after plenty of searching i bought a Canon MR-14EX ring flash in mint condition for 200

 

Sounds like a good buy - we'll be expecting some good macro shots soon then, shall we?
