Okay Stealth got back to me, and said they have previously remapped a car with similar specs to mine and have the map, and write the chip and send it me for 150+vat.

    Thoughts?

imo that kind of money for a non specific car map is a bit steep. though it will be a bit closer than the generic ebay chip, is the extra 120+VAT really worth it?
You could put the money aside for a megasquirt conversion which with a few mods could then be used on pretty much whatever engine you want to throw at it.

Just my oppinion though, we all know what oppinions are like

you have a point, young sir.

I would be happy to pay it if it was set-up for my car on the rollers, but like you say, 150 is a wee bit much considering it's non-specific.

Megasquirt!!! Could be a good winter project.

As I said earlier, I have the 944s 3.5 bar FPR which I could use, which may help as much as the chip anyway.

Ive got a late digi with a 2l bottom end and ported head (no fast cams yet) would I gain more performance from a remap? i never thought about it tbh thought the car was too old and too non Jap for that sort of thing lol

Then tend to run lean at the top in standard 1.8 form, so theoretically, yes.

Stealth have got back to me, and it's 250 for a full custom map on a rolling road.

Hmm. I guess the extra 100 is worth it but is the journey?

If I was going to get Megasquirt it would have to be pre-built, and ready loaded with a basic map, so all I need to do is wire in the appropriate sensors, turn it on, start mapping. Can you buy them in this pre-loaded form? How much?

ok cool. When you booked in for? I'll keep a keen eye on the results, see what comes out of it.

Does anyone know if you can buy Megasquirt ready to go then, as in my previous post? Toyo?

We should get a few people on board and book it as a group. Get some discount!

250 quid for a custom map seams good value to me, .h owever befor i went would put some uprated cams in and do the head , if you havent already.

This would make the most of it then,

    Already done and more besides!

I like the idea of taking it to stealth as well, I know Vince really knows his stuff, so if something else aint right, he'll pick up on it.

bit of a journey for me though, so will have to wait til she's m.o.t'ed
