Removing steering column bolts

    Is there no other way to remove the shear bolts other than drilling the heads off?.Once they are drilled how do you get the remnants out to replace for new bolts[:s]

    i have jsut done this, i cut a decent slot for a screw driver to get out what was left

    use mole grips they wont be that tight

    Rather than drill the heads first, then slot the remains. Try slotting the heads themselves... ;)

    i gave em a quick whack with a hammer and small chisel , once you moved em a bit they come out ok
    wasnt as bad as i expected

    As above. Hammer + screwdriver/chisel and they are out in no time.

    i struggled with these on mine, in the end i got mole grips on the threads poking out the top and cracked em loose that way. you can unbolt the bit those screws go into from the car and pull the whole thing out, that gives better access to attack the bolts.

    that what i did on my car, i drilled them on the white one. then it dawned on me[:$]

    Just drilled mine. Messy job, the thread's just unscrewed by hand.
