Is it possible to buy decent speakers which will be a direct replacement for the originals on a mk1 gti? They would need to fit in the rear parcel shelf supports and in the front door pockets. I'm not into cutting out holes and fitting big thumping speakers but they must be quality.
what size are they? 6x4? (i think they are in the back) i think pioneer do them, and maby kenwood, what size are the front ones? tim
ive got 4 Pioneer 6x4s all round very good setup although not amazing. I didnt want to cut anything up either
There was a stall at this years GTI international that sold all sorts of speakers to fit original spec but I didnt need them at the time and I cant remember the name of the company. I bought some speakers today from my local motor factors that fit and sound good enough for now. After what you chaps have said about being able to get these speakers from the likes of Poineer etc I'll wait till May and buy some at the show. Thanks.
SOUTHSIDE AUDIO IN SOUTHAMPTON SUPPLIED ME WITH 6X4 FRONT INFINITY 105W SPEAKERS THAT FIT DIRECTLY INTO THE DOOR POCKETS AND INFINITY 4" 105W SPEAKERS FOR THE REAR. I FITTED THEM ON TUESDAY AND THEY SOUND REALLY GOOD (COMPARED TO THE 20 YR OLD ORIGINALS!!). I WASN'T AFTER BIG BOOMING TUNES SO THE CABRIOLET IS NEARLY SORTED ICE WISE. JVC HEAD AND 12 DISC CHANGER IN THE NEW YEAR.
