Hi does anyone know if its possible to reprogram my mk3 vr6 mfa so it reads mph/mpg instead of kph/1/100km? My car is a jap import and ive been looking into this but havnt really found any evidence that it is possible on this car, on newer cars its a piece of cake though because you can use vagcom. One thing I have found is that if you Switch ignition on, hold the mfa mode button in switch ignition off then on again whilst holding the mfa button you see lots of info about the mfa configuration. Can this be reprogrammed?

no way around it but to replace the whole instrument cluster, the mpg/kph info will all be programmed in the clocks eeprom chip

Hmm ok so is there anyway to match the mileage up if I buy a second hand unit? Or could I swap the epromm chip from the UK spec clocks to my Jap ones and keep my exact mileage?

probably not possbile as said, if it was you need to make up a cable and use special software. the cable/software above is what you need to change the milage on em as well

Nice so I can use usb cable and Vagcom to change mileage? or what special software will I need. I have tried to log into the Instument cluster before and didnt get a response, is there a special address you have to use to access this?

yeah if you look on the back of the lcoks you'll see a plug hole with like flat solder points, this is where the cable goes. i got a load of random stuff from the internet somewhere on this, but most of it is in german so hard to make sence of it all. I know the above only becasue some of the software had pictures
