Here's the correct answer .... Mk2 8v from 1989 had Panasonic Radio Cassette as standard - model CQ-825FNV - thats in my original 8v and I have the original operating instructions ...... blaupunkt does appear in the brochures though these were standard in Germany ..... hope that helps !

 

I have just taken a mint Panasonic out of a '89 Jetta Syncro - Model No CQ-825FNV - if this is appropriate?

Blaupunkt did a stereo called 'Cambridge' in the pre 90 spec Golfs, that's what I had in my first GTI. Was pretty knackered tho!

My 89 Driver had a Panasonic cassette unit, which was the standard one at the time.

 

Was it factory fitted? Do you still have the whole in the wing?

 

I never saw an 8V with a factory fit ROOF AERIAL, "bee sting" , what are we, Paxo drivers?
