I've got a Full Mk1 Gti roll cage with Doorbars...I'm gonna put it on eBay but what sort of reserve should I put on it?...

Whats the second hand value of these things?

O...its Saftey Devices(Fixed diag) if that helps?

    Cheers
    Phil

    500 roughly when new?

In short supply now, so I'd say 250/300 reserve

Well this isn't a for sale post.

I've just tried to put one up and it won't let me...I'm not a club GTi member anymore.

How does it all join together then?

Ithough you still had to weld certain parts for strength?

Bolts and clamps, main joins are welded, you bolt the front cage to the rear, the door bars bolt on and the front top bolts across.

You can get a full cage for about 300 so i'd say 150ish.

Mike, the bolt in cage is pre formed to fit whatever car it's designed for.

When fitting a bolt in cage, usually it will require welding in some plates or brackets into the floor/structure of the shell to bolt the cage too.

Here's a pic - good illustrations of a bolt in cage and the plates/brackets I mentioned above.

Safety Devices 6 point bolt in cage

    SD cages

As for price, same thing for a mk2 was advertised on here last week for 195 + delivery and sold the first or second day it was up..

    missed it!!

So what's people's views regarding bolt-in & weld in cages & cost Vs strength?

    Must be good bolts?

Saftey devices cage + 2 door bars costs 360 + Delivery. Thats the best I could find.

I think I'm gonna try for 200 and see how it goes.
