Could've been a lot worse if he'd hit it square on

some one three pages in quite rightly suggests he changes his original thread to say he was doing 70, imagine if the insurance found the thread with him stating he was doing 80 [:s]

that will surely be a right off...how would a mk1 golf or scirocco
fair in that sort of collision?

no one to be picky but what does he mean the air bags just appeared? they have to inflate to rip open the covers and un pack them selves, but they inflate then instatly start to deflate to absorb the force of the occupant going into them othewise it would be like being hit in the face like a foot ball..(side seat bags normally inflate and stay up but fronts dont). also the fact hes been told he inhaled dust shows they worked, as when they go off theres a fine powder that goes everywhere and smells sickly-sweet.

the car will most lilely be a write off though as its hit the A pillar and bent that out of shape along with the inner wing. also it may have bent the front chassis longi which would need re-jigging. (the joys of working for a crash testers)

im with M7R (not like that obv) on this one, the airbags need to go off to push through so I think he is a tad confused still!!! my dad hit a cow in his 3 month old landcruiser at 60ish, cow dead instantly new bars needed at the front of the toyota that was it!!!

i like the way he assumes that the airbag will break his collision to the steering wheel like a nice soft cushion would!
