either way if you can afford it i would go for some coil overs you'll be much happier with the ride height and they can end up being almost the same price as some shocks and springs
Anything that's made for a mk1 golf or mk1 gti will fit, however the stuff made for the mk1 is usually sprung a bit lighter, and the rocco is heavier in the nose so often hits the stops on rough roads. Anything that's sold for the rocco with a different part-no to mk1 stuff would be worth looking into, regardless if it's springs & inserts or complete coil-over kits.
