Scirocco GT2

Can anybody tell me what engine this car has. It's a J reg Scirocco GT2. Is that a GTi 8 Valve engine?

Is there a variety of Scirocco with a 16V?

Its a 1.8 8v on a carburettor.

 

Only a very rare LHD one, never available in the UK.

There was a Rocco for sale at Curborough which had a 16v conversion. It had loads of engine work and looked awesome. The guy was selling it for 1800 IIRC.

 

GT2 = 1.8 carb = 90bhp

Quite easily tuned to 100+ with a Weber Carb, GTI manifold and exhaust.

Or save yourself the bother and get a late (89 on) Scala which is 112bhp injection.

 

Remember the 1.8 carb's come with Pierburgs!

More than likely
1781cc on a EX Engine code with a Pierberg 2E2 Carb.
Usual trimmings as per the old Scala carb.
