    Hi all,

I live in New Zealand and have recently come across a 1982 Mk2 Scirocco GTI 8V at the local car dump. As far as Im aware these cars are rare here and this one is quite original and complete. Can anyone tell me anything about this model and tell me what kind of problems to look for as I can get it for next to nothing.

Any help is great thanks! [:D]

Oh yea, whats the name of that orangey red colour on the older 80's cars?
I have a tornado red mk2 golf and the scirocco is going to be the uglier orange colour... It needs a repaint so might do it tornado red... [:^:]

Oh well everyone - I bought it for NZ$140 (about 45 pounds) Its Mars red, rusty, dirty and has a few parts missing, but I love it. haha I must be crazy (Its the kiwi coming out in me) [:s]
The car is a little tired having done 130,000 miles by the way...

That looks ok, needs a bit of work but doesn't look particularly rusty, and i shouldn't worry about it having done 130,000 miles - barely run in!

and to think it was only a week off being crushed! These things are rare as here... I had to get it.
Im just gona do it up to an original 82 Scirocco GTI, except it will have 7 spoke Passat GT style wheels, as it came with rusty odd steelies. Need to get a spoiler to New Zealand now... thats gona be fun.

I'll only give you some advice if you take back the comments on Mars Red paint ;)

    Cheers,

    Drew.

lol, I have decided I like both colours now anyway, after a wash that colour comes up quite nicely. It will get a full repaint in Mars Red.
