    the main two are:
    1.8 carbed - same as 1.8 driver mk2 golf power about 90-bhp I think
    found in GT2, some scalas

1.8i - same engine as found in mk1 gtis and early mk2s 112bhp
found in storm model, gtx, some scalas

I think there were others, a 1.6 carb same as 1.6 driver mk2 golf?

someone else maybe able to give more detailed info.

theres a myriad of scirocco models. but most come with a 1.8 or 1.6 8v, either carb of fuel injected. Which model is which, well you could write a book on that! :p

everything is the same as a mk1 golf, regardless of if its a mk1 or mk2 scirocco.

cheers guys. Anyone ever owned / driven a rocco, are they any good as there are still a few minters about with relatively low milage and for very reasonably money.

bargain cars! I'm on my second rocco, I had a mk2 GTS years ago and now I have a mk1 3 speed 1.6 auto [:$]

both cost me next to nothing, and as I said its a mk1 golf in drag, so it has all the good points of a mk1 golf, with the added bonus that its lower giving it a lower centre of gravity, and the mk1s are even lighter than a mk1 golf to boot [:D]

So, great to drive, but the mk2 is definitely an acquired taste looks wise.

Apart from the usual mk1 golf things like rusty fuel filler necks and lack of a lower front strut brace, age, brakes etc, the only additional downside with a rocco is that the back seats in them are fecking useless ;)

Assuming you're talking about mk2s (leave the mk1s alone - they're ALL mine!) then briefly:

    1.6 GTI K-jet 110bhp
    1.6 GT Carb 75bhp
    1.8 GT Carb 90bhp
    1.8 GTX K-jet 112bhp
    1.8 Scala Carb 90bhp (87ish - 89ish)
    1.8 GT2 (GTII) Carb 90bhp (89ish - 92)
    1.8 Scala K-jet 112bhp (89ish - 92)

Also CL,GL,GTL,GTS models and the Storm which was 1.8 K-jet too.

As mentioned above, they share the same mechanicals as the mk1 Golf and mk1 Cabby (both built in same factory).

Pricewise, excellent condition, 100k late Scala injection should be no more than a grand. I;ve had quite a few now (15+) and my last Scala (108k,FSH,570) was by far the most enjoyable. Still didn't stop me scrapping it tho [:D]

Click here for most of the UK scirocco brochures from 76-91.
