I need to sell my Polo GT but it has no MOT or tax. Is it worth me MOT'ing it?? The MOT will be 35, I know it needs a new tyre at 30 and I always budget at least 100 anyway. Seen as I'm not expecting hundreds for it as it has 170,000 mile. 300 would do me, is it worth me bothering???
Probably get more breaking it if you have time and sell the bits on clubpolo.co.uk, but if not get an MOT for 35 for a place with re-test, if not much needs doing sort it out and try and get as much as you can! As long as the main interior is spot on, most engine parts are solid people will buy it anyway regardless of the milage I reckon either to break or use the car as a donar or put a new engine in!
i've had a fair few mk3 gt's. Am currently breaking on for spares. I'd say your better off selling it as an Mot'd car,as the market for bits is crap at the moment, seems everyone is breaking them now
yeah i think I might MOT it, it's just I've spent weeks sorting my scirocco mk1 and I need to get my head down for my uni finals. might just put it on eBay tonight and whatever I get it's gotta go!! I've got 3 cars at the mo!!
how much you reckon it will go for, no mot no tax?? very fast engine! headwork, induction kit, 4-2-1 exhaust. de-cat. good interior, lots of history. cat 2 immobiliser etc etc????????
think it needs a new tyre and mybe new discs and pads. so thats' like 100 including the MOT so how much do I reasonably expect to get for it?? 400?? So I don't know if it's worth doing!! This was my first modded VAG car that I had when I was 17-19 till I bought my golf mk1, sold it to my sis, then her mate, then back to me, then to my mate, then to his mum, then back to him, then back to me!!! Used to love it!!
this is now on eBay. I will post MOT results on Tuesday http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4631992014&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
I wouldn't pay more than 200 for it with no tax or MOT. In fact I'd be hard pushed to pay that. If a car for sale like that has no MOT then it makes me think something big must be wrong with it or the seller would MOT it first. I you are confident that it'll pass an MOT pretty easily then definately get it done. Tax isn't that important because it's only a case of money although you'll put buyers off because they can't drive it home with no tax on it. What I'd do is MOT it and providing you have insurance, tell the buyer you'll tax it for them at their cost before they pick it up.
