Silly Question

this may sound stupid but can you remap an n reg gti 16v?

i'm trying to turn my golf into a trackday/fast road car, i've made a list of things i'm going to need but wasn't sure about chipping and remapping

You can chip one yes - not massive BHP gains though, there are other mechanical mods you can do for bigger POWAAAAAAH increases
