I went to Silverstone at the weekend and took the camera to play with, it was my first time taking pics of fast moving cars, the conditions were overcast and dull on the sat so I had to bump up the ISO. Played around with the settings to try and get a blend of sharp cars and speed through blurd backgrounds - this took some time and practace but I manage to get a couple of pics im happy with. I was just using the kit 18-55 lens so have had to crop alot. Looking forward to the release of the 55-210 lens later this year Anway some pics of the GT3 and BlancPain races, VW cup F3 and others were on too. No VW pics, shame on you. Love the GT's! some nice machinery out there. I didnt realise the Audi R8 was racing this year.
Nice pics! Im learning too but am i right in thinking the shutter speed is too high which is why all the cars look like they are stood still?
Yes you need a lower shutter speed for background blur. It varies depending on the speed of the cars. For high speed 200sec works but 80sec is a winner for max blur. The slower you go the better the panning technique is required. It takes a lot of practice to master, im still working on it
