hi guys, got a bit of an issue tbh, i recently changed my fan belt as the old one slipped abit and it didn't change when i tightened it up.

the new one will slip for around 3 seconds when started then if i rev over 2k ish it stops or stops on it own after about 5 seconds, ive tightened the belt and there is abit of slack but nothing major at all. and i don't want to tighten it too much so that i bugger my water pump bearings

    any suggestions?

Are all the adjustment bits that should be there, there? On mine someone had meddled with it, and it could never be made to hold. A few new bits for the adjuster from the scrappy and it was sorted.

Perhaps clean the wheels up so they don't have any old rubber and crud on them... just an idea.

You should have a little play, the haynes tells you the play (I think it's actually right) I'd check for you but mine's in the garage because it's really good for leaving stuff on top of.

    Think it's 4-5mm

General rule of thumb with belts, you should be able to twist them 90 degrees, no more. When it whines it's too tight, if it squeels it's too loose :)
