I would says it's definitely a leak, unless you were hosing down the seats or something!!

Umm... Window seals? Top of the Tailgate? Hole in the floor? Lifted the carpets in mine the other week, and there's wet on the drivers side under the carpet in the front, uh oh...

Check the drain holes in the sunroof (if you have one) and also under the bonnet, up near the bulkhead....

stick a wire coathanger down into them, then water should flow....

used to happen in my Scirocco, and my ex's Mk2, after poking... all clear!

right just checking, the floor is wet again, wetter than earlier i'd say (dryed it with a towell!) its only the floor not the seats or anything and just the drivers side.

the sunroof seems fine. not 100% about the other bits mentioned, any ideas from just the floor? where to check? thanx :)

nice one altern8! was looking how to get the door card off, and noticed the bottom right hand corner was off a little, put my hand there and the plastic behind is ripped. lined it up and its where the leak is!

so just tape or whatever the plastic back down behind the door card?
