    Hi again all.
    So - some more questions.

I think that the passenger door window motor/innards or lock have been replaced, however, they've been replaced with non matching parts to the rest of the car. This is causing the entire passenger door to not have any power. I remove the door card, check all the connectors, reattach the wiring, and the window works, no problem.

Remove the key, lock the car, unlock the car, and nothing on the passenger door works. Also, rear windows will wind down, but very jittery - sometimes they go down with no issue, other times they go down 1cm at a time.

Does the lock in the passenger door or the window motor or anything in the door need to be programmed or coded to the rest of the car? Was reading another thread with this suggestion, but there was not much detail at all.

first step is scan the ccm with vagcom, in the first screen it will try to connect to all 4 window motors which if the front left doent show up will tell you if its faulty or if there is a wirign issue. it should be connected to the ccm via canbus, perhaps the wires have snapped in the rubber boot? next check would be to make sure you have good earth and live feeds to the door module :)

Rubjonny, still driving me mad.... had the door cards off of the passenger door, there is a live running in, good earth...no broken wires in the rubber boot, checked both drivers door and passenger door for this...

Anyone else that could give me a little help here??

maybe start by unplugging all 4, then clear the codes and plug back in 1 at a time see if one of them is causing the fault on the rest. they all share a common connection via the canbus so as i say if there is a fault on that it could potentially kill comms to all 4 say if rubbed thru and earthed soemwhere, or snapped just after the plug on the ccm module

in the main vagcom screen once you select the convenience system all 4 motors should show up with their part numbers, heres a scan of our bora:

Rubjonny, I did what you suggested - when I have drivers door 2 rear doors plugged in, the system is happy - gives me the details of the door module etc, same as you have in extra. When I check the meas. blocks - 08, all the bits come up as working, except, obviously, the passenger door.

When I plug in the passenger door, then all the codes come up as above, as well as meas. blocks not reading.

Also did a continuity test on the wires leading through the rubber boot/door hinge on the passenger door - no faults there, all the wires are good.

Actually wondering if I should just replace the ccm?

    Conclusion?

sounds like passenger module is faulty to me, whats the part number on it? ccm might be a possibility perhaps, but bit of a strange fault if it only shows up if passenger module is connected...

rubjonny, looked at the wrong pic that I took yesterday - it is a d.... I took pics of them all when I removed the door cards yesterday. All the codes of all the other modules are C - should it be a D?

I must say, with the door unclipped from the loom, the entire system seems to work a lot faster - drivers door and rear door windows move quicker, central locking all locks and unlocks at the same time. With the passenger door plugged in, drivers door would unlock then 1 second later, the rear doors...

damn I thought that would be an easy fix

when you say door unplugged, is that the connector at the A pillar or the door module?

I've unclipped the connector in the A pillar, down in the footwell.

Small update, just had to door card off again - the motor number in the passenger door is 1C2959801A. Drivers door is 1J2959802C. Rear doors are 1J4959811C an 1J4959812C.
    The CCM is 1J0959799AH.

The passenger door is an 1C***A, the other doors are 1J***C. Wrong unit?

Yeah the 1C2959801A part number is for 01 onwards, you need a 1J2959801D part number for yours so thats probably it :)

1J2959801D, front passenger side for 99-01 RHD golf, bora and beetle :)

edit: 1J2959801C is front driver side 99-01, so that one is ok as are both rears.

so most likely its the fact your front passenger side is for later cars and doesnt want to talk to the early CCM module :)

And like that - problem solved. Went to pick up a second hand unit, all works as it should now (besides when winding the window up, it sometimes reaches the top then winds down to half way - I'm sure that I can live with that little issue for now!)

    And once again, thanks rubjonny!

sounds like the module needs to be reset for the total closure, iirc you just keep the switch held down once window is open fully for a few seconds to set lower stop, repeat at the top for upper stop :)

its in the owners manual anyway, if you dont have one i'll try to find the relevant section in ours to double check for you
