i thought it was going to be more mobile units rather than fixed, or that was the very brief look i got this morning while eating my coco pops infront of the news
I just half-heard something on the radio, someone saying something like "there are 6000 cameras on the roads, that's HARDLY ANY! And of those, only 1000 are active. So that's only 1000 places with an effective deterrent to speeders" Err... Not very effective are they when MILLIONS of people get caught by them every year Wonder why? Could it be something to do with the fact that they are more about revenue-raising than safety?
I've got more chance of having a crash from hitting sh*tty pot holes and uneven roads than a little bit over the limit speed! Lately the number of times my cars understeared and drifted out going round a bend at 10mph due to wet 'shiney', worn out roads is stupid!
I hope they spend some of the money on those signs which you have to blast towards to make them flash "SLOW DOWN!" at you in big letters........ I like those.....
They had one outside where I used to work, that flashed up your speed. In a 30 zone. Not far from a MacDonalds. You can guess the rest, suffice to say that I saw a 200SX go through at 89mph
I heard they were to spend money setting up 20mph zones outside schools. Stretching about ten miles in either direction...
You can still kill someone at 20mph - you just have to hit them correctly. Takes a bit of practice, but after a while you can do it every time.
