The green light that allows you to see your speed,revs etc has started to flicker when i reach 60 plus then when i drop down below 60 it stops???? And 2nite the light went off and the full beam light came on for about 1 sec then it went back 2 normal and i was doing 30!! the headlights don't flicker tho Is this a bad earth & if so were would it be?? Help plz guys
Check the earth lead to the gearbox, and basically tighten up all connectors to alternator, battery etc.
I just found out by chance, that if I press my dimmer control (for the green dash light) the dash lights go then back on when i let go, but the dimmer still works fine?!? How easy is it to swap dimmer control, is it attached to the headlight switch?
Got the same prob with my MK2, some times the back lighting will flicker, its usually fixed by fiddling with the dimmer switch. I would imagine over the years the contacts get corroded. The dimmer switch is part of the switch assembly and cannot be replaced separately. I would say you could do 1 of 2 things a) Short the connection out so its on permanently. b) Get one from a scrappy. would imagine the cost wont be that much. Ben
