    Hey guys.

I'm considering having a go at the sprint at the GTI National Day on the 16th July at Curborough and was just wondering if there is any kind of special preparation you have to do to be allowed a go in the first place.

Please bear in mind that I have no previous sprint experience and my car is a standard Golf Mk2 1.6 Driver... So I'm just doing it for a laugh.

    Cheers, Adam.

strip your interior out, empty your boot, lower your tyre pressures (or adjust them at least) get rid of spare tyre, take your head lamp out?!

Unless it's wet, I'd advise pumping tyres up - say another 10 psi.

Other than that, lob anything out that moves and you're ready to go. Technically it's a track day at a sprint circuit, so no need for any MSA things to trouble you.

    You'll enjoy yourself.

No it's the Club GTI National Day that's being referred to.

A mix between sprint (for those who want to) and car show. Details on the link above. Usually the track's full (30+ cars entered) but should be spaces still avail.

    Edited cos I can't spell [:s]

Remember to check all fluid levels !!! and make sure the cars reasonbly warmed up before you go out!!

Thrashing a cold engine + gearbox isn't really recommended [:D]

Other than that make sure you have have some fun ;)

Anybody know where the law stands on taking bumpers/trims off temporarily. I'd put the number plate somewhere obviously.

My time'll be so crap if I can get a space but atleast everyone else'll feel really good about themselves.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother. You say it's your first sprint day, so you're over-psyching yourself up by lightening the car.

IMHO turn up with half a tank of fuel instead of a full one and leave it at that.

I'm gonna take your word for it and half-fill the tank (assuming I get a place). The original question was whether IHAD to do anything and it would appear I don't. Got a bit carried away in my own little world.

    Cheers guys.

At last someone who agrees with me!

Back on topic- As has already been said I wouldn't bother about stripping the car out just have fun. Plus if you do it looks like you're taking it seriously.

Just check the obvious, oil, tyres, disks, pads, etc... Before you go out.
